The Liner/Sleeve Notes:
Making records and performing have always been foremost in Charity’s life. With “ROCK ME”, her first album, you’ll hear her three powerhouse hits, “JIMMY MACK”, “YOU BEAT ME TO THE PUNCH” and “TAKE ME IN YOUR ARMS”, but you’ll feel her power and sensitive rapport with a song.

Personal Review:
Charity Brown was originally born Phyllis Boltz, and soon become Phyllis Brown before changing to Charity… It’s speculated that she is also this Phyllis. Though I’m not 100%, Wikipedia says they are, while other music sites state otherwise.

The album opens with the track “Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me a Little While)” – and it’s a good song to start the album with, it’s really upbeat and definitely has a lot of great parts to it. Charity really delivers on this one and it’s pretty great. After that comes the track “Playboy” which seems to have a bit of that doo-wop sound to it at the beginning, but Charity continues to deliver this song perfectly. Charity is a great singer. All in all, it’s a good song. “Jimmy Mack” comes next, and this woman really delivers her songs amazingly, her voice is perfect. It’s a good song, and Charity performs it well. “Going Down for the Third Time” comes next, and Charity belts out this track greatly. The backing vocals and musicianship are absolutely amazing. I’m really liking this album. The A-Side closes with an amazing cover of the song “Dancing in the Street” and it’s absolutely fantastic, Charity continues to deliver great tracks.

The B-Side opens with the track “Saving All My Love” and this one is a great ballad, and it’s wonderfully performed by the ever so talented Charity Brown and how this woman is this talented is crazy, but she’s fantastic. The next song is “You Beat Me to the Punch” which really has a pop sound to it, it’s not bad, but it’s also not up my alley, the back cover said that this one is one of her ‘powerhouse hits’. Then comes “Our Day Will Come” – and once more, it’s not really up my alley. But it’s not entirely bad. “Family Man” comes next and Charity gives it her all on this one, and it’s fantastic. The album closes with the track “No Way to Treat a Lady” and it’s a good one, this album is pretty great. Charity is a fantastic singer.

The link you give is not the same Phyllis Brown. The one on this page was in a Kitchener, ON band called Rain which released several singles and one self titled album. She changed her name to Charity Brown between then and this album.
