Personal Review:
So, both actors were in the 1979 film “Quadrophenia” – and both went on to have pretty good film careers. Phil would later act in “Alien³” & “Notes on a Scandal” (among other films), and Gary would go on to act in “Shock Treatment” & “Give My Regards to Broad Street” (among other films). Somewhere along the lines, they recorded this split.

So, the A-Side opens with Phil’s version of “Blown It” – His version is a more upbeat, pop kind of song, with a Caribbean vibe/beat to it. It’s an alright version of the song, but I’m not overly fond of it. I do quite enjoy the line “I think I got some courage now, I don’t care if it’s scotch…” that’s a classic line.

The B-Side is Gary’s version, now Gary did provide some vocals in a couple songs on the “Shock Treatment” soundtrack, and is a natural singer. His version, as it turns out is a slower, more piano rock version. I’m pretty sure the song is about a guy who meets a girl in a bar, takes her home (or to a party), tries to get with her and ends up screwing up the whole thing. “I smile back, I clench me fist. I ain’t gonna dance with you she says, you’re pissed…” is another line in the song that I love.

Both of the singers are really good, and make the song sound like two totally different songs. Though, I do prefer Gary’s version. Good job boys.

“I think I’ve gone and blown it… again.
