Personal Review:
Once more we’re back with another Petty release, and just like the last one this one is also going to great.
The album opens with the track “A One Story Town” and right from the initial guitar intro to Petty’s lyrics, the song becomes a great way to open the album, the chorus comes around and it gets even better. So, Tom Petty is still one of the greatest. Then comes my favorite Petty track of this album, “You Got Lucky” (it’s kind of a personal anthem) and right from the Benmont Tench’s keyboard playing to the lyrics, to the vocals themselves, this song is absolutely amazing. “Deliver Me” comes next, and from the opening guitar riff to the chorus again, the song is absolutely amazing, Tom Petty comes and gives it his all, delivering amazing music on every album. “Change of Heart” comes next, and again Petty continues with these amazing tracks. His vocals are superb. The A-Side closes with the track “Finding Out” and that fast paced musicianship in the intro is really, really amazing, Petty comes in with his vocals and they too, are absolutely amazing.
The B-Side opens with the song “We Stand a Chance” and that keyboard playing is just great, Petty begins to sing again, and his vocals remain absolutely amazing. Let’s not forget the other Heartbreakers, they’re all pretty great too. “Straight into Darkness” comes next, and it’s a bit of a slower song, but it’s delivered well. It’s really a great track, and this album has been amazing so far. “The Same Old You” comes next, and it’s a good track, the guitar playing and the drums are pretty solid. “Between Two Worlds” follows next, and hey, look at that, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers give us another amazing track on yet another amazing record. This is what good music is, not that stuff you here on most radio stations now-a-days. The album closes with the track “A Wasted Life” and it’s a good track, it’s a pretty decent way to end the album.
