Personal Review:
Aerosmiths 1987 album “Permanent Vacation” – now I am not a big fan of theirs and don’t think much of Steven Tyler (Thanks “Two and a Half Men” and “American Idol“!)
So the album opens with the track “Heart’s Done Time” – now this album is filed under “hard rock” at many stores and stuff, and I disagree completely with this. Judas Priest is hard rock. Aerosmith is just rock. Who the hell picks these genres? Anyways, the song is actually pretty decent, solid opening track. Can’t complain here. Next up is “Magic Touch” – oh look, it opens with an obnoxious drum solo. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. (repeat x50) I can complain here. Next up is everyone’s SECOND favorite track on this album, “Rag Doll” – maybe third, this album does have “Dude” on it. This song is good, one of my favorites, but I can’t say it’s worth going out and buying the album for. Next is “Simoriah” – which actually isn’t all that bad, so we can say the album is going good – so far, a little obnoxious at parts. But hey, so is Steven Tyler. Then comes “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)” – made famous by the movie “Mrs. Doubtfire” (starring the God-awful Robin Williams) – got to admit, this is probably like EVERY single living persons favorite track, to me, it makes me think of Robin Williams. It is a good track however, so let’s toss up some points there! Anyways, the A-Side ends with “St. John” – and what the hell was up with that song intro. This song however is good, so I can say it is a good way to end the A-Side… sorta?
The B-Side opens with “Hangman Jury” – and, well… I don’t like it. Next is “Girl Keeps Coming Apart” – and once more, what the hell. The A-Side was so much stronger track wise. Then I get these two tracks. Then it comes… my personal favorite track on this album… “Angel” – this song honestly makes the album worth buying on it’s own. It’s basically the most well delivered song on the album, in my opinion. Next is “Permanent Vacation” – the title track, and well, I can say it ain’t that bad! The chorus is pretty good too. Next is “I’m Down” and well, I don’t like it too much, I find it too repetitive. The album ends with “The Movie” which basically was an instrumental piece. Decent way to end the album.
