Jeff Steinberg – “A Gift for You Because You’re Special”
Coming fresh off of his string of albums, which included “Something Special from Jeff“, “No Turning Back“, “Son of Abraham” and “From the Beginning” – Jeff released this single as the precursor for his 1979 album, “The Glove” – I assume that this record was given out at shows, or through Jeff’s ministry.
The A-Side of this 45 is Jeff’s song, “The Glove” and it’s got some nice piano playing and a little bit of piano tinkling before Jeff starts to sing, and if you haven’t heard Jeff sing – do yourself a favor, and go out there and listen to this man’s voice. He has an absolutely incredible singing voice, and just always releases impeccable music. Just when you think the song is about to end, boom. Jeff comes back in with a little tap on the drums, and he’s back at it.
The B-Side is a spoken word testimony of Jeff’s story, and I feel like John Travolta could’ve played Jeff if they had made a biopic of him in the 1980’s. Jeff’s story is inspirational, I’ve read his book “Masterpiece in Progress” – the piano in the back is a very nice touch. The B-Side is kind of almost like a promo, asking listeners to donate to Jeff’s ministry.
