The Liner/Sleeve Notes:
Personal Review:
So, to be quite honest, I do not know much about Ryan Adams – I liked the fact that this was a full length 7″ EP – and that it is titled ‘1984’ – I also hear Ryan changes his persona quite often. So, that’s kinda neat!
So, the EP opens with the song “When the Summer Ends” – and it’s a pretty decent track, the vocals are pretty decent – and wow, these songs go by pretty fast, it’s already on the song “What If You Were Wrong” – and once more the musicianship is pretty good, and for the first time hearing Ryan sing, he is pretty good. Not gonna complain much here. “Over and Over” follows next, and these track breaks are really short, it makes sense considering it’s 10 songs on an 7 inch record. “Change Your Mind” comes next, and well, all the songs are good, but that is because they are like one big song, and it’s not so bad, the EP is pretty nice. “Broken Eyes” ends the EP and I definitely really like this track the most, and not because of the fact it is the ending track, I just like the chorus.
“Why Did They Leave You Alone” follows and it’s a pretty good song, a lot of the tracks sound the same, but that is okay on an EP, right? “Rats in the Wall” comes up next, and it is another good track, really can’t complain much here. The songs are pretty straightforward and at you, but like, I’m asking myself why I have not heard of Ryan before? This reminds me of a Dead Milkmen song. “Bones and Ash” comes next, and it’s basically the same listening experiene up til the chorus, and it gets slightly better. “Wolves” follows next, and the song has a pretty nice opening to it with the musicianship. I like it. Ryan’s vocals are nice too. The EP ends with “Push it Away” and it’s a pretty good ending track. I like it. It’s a little repetitive, but it’s a good ending track.
