Skold – “Neverland”
As a connoisseur of industrial music and the like, when I came across the 1996 single by someone who has collaborated with the likes of KMFDM and Marilyn Manson, I could not help but to pick this one up. This is another that has been sitting on my shelf for over a decade, never having even been put on my turntable platter, until tonight. Yes, the website on the back cover is still active.
The A-Side of this is two versions of title track, “Neverland” one is “Fuzzy Klub Mix I” and the other, well that’s “Fuzzy Klub Mix II” – I’m not sure if I will or will not enjoy it, but here we go. I don’t really know what that was at the start, the music is alright. I find it’s go a bit of that late 90’s / early 00’s Nu Metal vibe to it. I definitely am not getting the industrial vibe from this track. The percussion on this is good, but otherwise, so far not vibing with me. So, the next track is the same, but longer. So, we’ll just flip to the B-Side.
The B-Side gives us two tracks, that aren’t the same as the first two, “Anything (Dominatrix Mix)” and “Remember (Doubtly Dub)” – let’s spin this. “Anything” starts off with some synth playing, very bassy, drum machine. This one has more of that electronic vibe to it, like almost like the kind of music you’d hear club or something. It’s a bit dark and ominous, but so far, it is better than the A-Side. The song afterwhile just gets repetitive in beat, it does change up every so often. Lastly, we end with “Remember” – there are some vocals, and more of that drum machine.
In terms of industrial music, I’ll stick to my Skinny Puppy and their side projects.
