The Psychedelic Furs – “The Ghost in You (Full Length Version) / Heartbeat (New York Remix)”

Ah yes, another for the Marred by Value Village category – just look at that spot from that Value Village price tag that I tried peeling off. Now, the Psychedelic Furs had a pretty prolific run in the 1980’s, releasing such hits as “Pretty in Pink“, “Love My Way” and “Sister Europe” – Richard Butler later went to form the band Love Spit Love, and released the song “Am I Wrong” for the Angus soundtrack. (Amazing soundtrack by the way.)
The A-Side is the full length version of “The Ghost in You” – we’ve got some nice synthesizers going on this and the drums, Richard Butler begins to sing, and the guy has pretty good vocals. The music isn’t bad at all. It does pick up a good bit, and I can dig it. All in all, not a bad song.
The B-Side is “Heartbeat (New York Remix)” and in my opinion, any sort of remix where they use repetitions and that drum tone, is kind of bleh, it does go into some nice parts where it’s a repeating guitar riff, which I like. When the actual vocals come in, and we skip past that awful intro, the song itself isn’t bad. Almost (and I do mean almost) gives off that New Order vibe musically. I think if this would’ve been a standard mix, I probably would’ve enjoyed it more.
A-Side was good, B-Side was mediocre.
