Personal Review:
I got this LP for two reasons and two reasons only – Gary Numan and the dog. More specifically, the dog. It’s a picture disc… of a dog. How cool is that?
So, the A-Side is the song “I Still Remember” – and it has sort of a jazzy opening, but then the synth begins to join in and the electric drum, oh those electric drums… they are the greatest. It’s a pretty nice opening to the song. The vocals are pretty good, and obviously have a deep meaning for the topic at end of the single, Gary is a pretty great singer. “How can they do this? How can they do this to me… again?” – it’s a pretty deep line, considering the subject matter is dogs being abandoned by people who bought them for their family members as gifts on Christmas.
The B-Side is the song “Puppets” – which comes off as more a dance track as opposed to the other track. I’ve always loved Gary Numan for the musicianship of his songs – and hey, this song features a clip from the Blues Brother movie! Isn’t that neat? It’s basically an instrumental, besides the almost silent movie excerpts that play in the background, the A-Side is definitely the better side out of the two. Plus, the A-Side has a dog on it.
