The Open Door – “An Invitation”

The Sleeve:

The Liner/Sleeve Notes:
It is always great fun to open the mail and discover that you have been invited to something special; a birthday party, a wedding, an anniversary party, or other occasion.
An invitation of even greater significance can be found by merely opening the Bible – the invitation is from God to you to become one of His people. It is R.S.V.P.
You must answer.
It is our prayer that the songs and message of this album will encourage you to accept God’s invitation and to grow in His grace.

Personal Review:
So after a LONG year and a bit of not posting anything here, I’ve decided it was long overdue to do a little write-up on one of the albums I got! This one is quite special, because it features Sandy Rupp!

So, the album opens with “Love Medley” and it starts off with some organ playing, and then the group begins to sing together, and their harmony is pretty great. It is a pretty good track to open the album with, I’m enjoying it. Next comes “All Things Work Together” and it features some pretty nice piano playing, and female harmony vocals, followed by some male harmony vocals and you can definitely hear Sandy’s voice. She has an amazingly distinct voice! Then we go onto the track “Follow Jesus” and I’m loving how this album has the group harmony vocals going, the song choices are pretty great. The A-Side closes with the song “Day By Day” and the vocals on this track are great. It’s a good choice to end the A-Side with.

The B-Side opens with “Easter Song” and once more, you can definitely hear Sandy’s voice and this is another great example of her excellent singing! Another fantastic song on this album, with just great vocals from the whole group! “And This is Love” comes next, it’s a good song, I can tell that Sandy provides the lead female vocals, I do wonder who is providing the lead male vocals, nonetheless, it’s a great track. “Death Could Not Hold Him” follows, and I’m liking this track a lot, it’s got a good beat to it, and fantastic vocals on it. Following that is “Jesus Loves Me — O How He Loves You and Me” and it starts off with Sandy singing, followed by a male vocalist, not sure who, but whoever it is, is also very good. There is a bit of group vocalization, and some great organ playing on this one as well. The album closes with the track “Trust in the Lord” and it makes for a great closing track, on a thoroughly enjoyable record.
