Personal Review:
So, it has certainly been sometime since I have written about anything on here and I figured since I should probably post or write about something! Recently, I’ve been watching a lot of the TV show, “ER” which features Paul McCrane for at least six seasons, and in it he plays one of my favorite characters, he’s snarky, sarcastic and a bit of an asshole, but all in all he is also a good doctor. Now, if you’ve seen “Fame” you’ll know he plays a character completely opposite of Rocket Romano, but you’ll also know that he also is a very multitalented individual, not only is he an actor and director, he is also a singer and songwriter, in fact he wrote the A-Side track on this single for the film “Fame“.
“Is it Okay If I Call You Mine?” is a ballad-esque song, and from what I can see on Discogs, it’s been covered a whole bunch of times. I do enjoy the song, it’s nice and relaxing and definitely worth listening to.
The B-Side is “Dogs in the Yard” which is honestly my more preferred track out of the two, it’s a bit silly, but I feel like there is definitely a lot of heart and meaning behind it, especially fitting with Paul’s character Montgomery MacNeil in “Fame”, though if I remember correctly, you don’t actually see him perform the song in the film, it plays in the back during another scene. Personally though, I do love the ending of the film when Laura Dean, Irene Cara and Paul McCrane lead the cast in the amazing “I Sing the Body Electric”
