The Liner/Sleeve Notes:
“I sincerely hope that, after listening to this recording, you will accept Christ as your own personal Savior, if you haven’t already done so. If you will only trust God and let Him have control over your life, you will see a great change occurring. God loves you and He has a wonderful plan in store for your life. Come on! Why don’t you ask Jesus in right now? He loves you, wants you and cares for you. There is nothing more can ask for from a friend like Jesus. He is ready to take you to Heaven someday. Are you ready to go? This is Denise Klahn, encouraging you and praying that you will take the Lord Jesus into your life and let Him work with you. May the love and grace of our lord, Jesus Christ be with you all. This album was recorded in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”
Personal Review:
I am personally a BIG Denise Klahn fan. I own both of her albums, and cherish them both. So, to begin the A-Side opens with the track “Her Father’s Eyes” which is a little wobbly due to ill-care of the LP (Darn Amazon.com!) Anyways, to continue on, the next song is “Unfailing Love” – which too, starts off wobbly… (Curse you Amazon!) Then comes one of my favorite Gospel songs “It’s Me Again, Lord“, which makes for a good (non-wobbly) opening track! Denise’s version has to be one of my favorite versions. Then comes another great track, “What Was He?” (which I am sure was written by Denise) – it’s basically a song about Jesus, and what he was. “Born Again” is the next song, I’ve heard a couple versions, Denise’s is good, not my preferred version… (HA! Just kidding. It is.) The A-Side closes with the track “Redemption Draweth Nigh” – it’s a slow song, but Denise’s so it’s amazing.
The B-Side, is possibly my favorite side as it has so many great songs! It opens with the great track, “You’ve Never Really Lived” – Denise has become the music I can sing along to, since I’ve heard it so much. “Shepherd of Love” is next, and it’s a slow song, I enjoy it but prefer other songs. Then comes another Denise written song – “Who Do You Think” which is just an amazing track about the Virgin Mary, and the birth of Jesus. I just love the chorus “and who do you think could believe such a thing?” – it makes for an amazing song. “Salvation Ceremony” comes next, which is sang much like a wedding. (Do I take Denise? I do.) anyways, slow song but an amazingly great one! The LP closes with the amazing track “Ordinary People” which is about how Jesus loves everyone. (See, I told you!)
In the end, after much, much research I do know there are TWO more recordings of Denise’s out there, (not including “Closer to the Savior” – one being titled, “You’ve Got a Chance to be Free” – info can be found in this screen capture. The other possible recording is linked to this, just scroll down to Loren Wakefield’s story.)
It’s another great album from the Crusade label from Illinois.
Interesting Facts:
My copy of this LP is still in it’s original shrink wrap, as seen in the photos above. (or was. My room had flooded March 2012, and the shrink got water logged.)
