Dwight Breland – “God’s Message: The Great Tornado / American Dream: It’s a Boy”

I’m not even sure where or when I got this 45, but according to Discogs I added it to my collection about 7 years ago.

The A-Side is “God’s Message: The Great Tornado” which is a pop-country sounding, Gospel song about all these bad things that could happen, like Tornados, car bombs, hijackers stealing planes and innocent people having to die, and that only God knows the reason why. It’s a really upbeat sounding song for a song that has such dark lyrics, but I guess the overall message is to trust in the Lord. The guitar playing is pretty good on this one.

The B-Side is “American Dream: It’s a Boy” – and as a wrestling fan, every time I hear someone say “it’s the American Dream” – I think of Dusty Rhodes. The song starts with a spoken word introduction, about a the birth of a boy. The guitar playing is still pretty good on this one as well. The vocals are really nice country sounding ones.
