Frizzby Fox – “Pretty Boys”
So, back when I started on RateYourMusic, this one ended up somehow in my want list. Then when I merged over to Discogs, it ended up in that want list as well. According to my Discogs, I did eventually add it to my collection about nine years ago (2017ish) – it is now finally going for a spin on my turntable.
Going into this, I have no idea who Frizzby Fox, the song “Pretty Boys” is definitely a dance song, it’s bassy and got some keyboards to it, and the drum machine. The song isn’t awful, and Frizzby doesn’t seem to have any information out there about who she is, other than she was in a 12 year relationship with Peter Stringfellow. She looks like she’s got this mix between Dale Bozzio and Toyah, but has this Kylie Minogue – early Madonna vibe to her vocals. That high note is something else. I’m digging the beat.
So, the B-Side opens with the dub version, so no vocals, same beat. We know I like the beat already, so I’m going to continue to the 7″ Edit and see how it differs. Same beat, but overall it’s a good song, it’s got a catchy chorus and a beat that keeps you moving. All in all, not a bad song. This 12″ is also stamped a promo copy.
I still don’t know where this came from.
