Personal Review:
I liked the way Trudie looked, and the label of this record is one that’s actually relatively close by to me, and plus the owner Dave Daw of the Proverbs, is in my collection on more than one record (two Proverbs records, and countless other Summit Sound records).
The album opens with the ever so great “One Day at a Time” and can we all take a moment to appreciate Trudie’s keyboard playing? The vocals are a little slow, but the keyboard playing does make up for it. Her vocals are pretty great though. After that we continue on with “All My Life” and we continue on with the ever-so-slow songs by Trudie, and though she is not a bad singer, she does indeed sing too slow. “Jesus is Coming Soon” and there is some pretty great vocal overdubbing in this track is pretty awesome. The song is a little bit more uptempo then the last two, still not the best, but it’s not overly horrible or anything. Trudie is a good singer. “I Asked the Lord” comes next, and hey this seems to be one of the few seldom times that a title track isn’t the first track on the B-Side. It’s still too slow though, which is sad, but the musicianship seems to be pretty great. The A-Side closes with the Trudie written song, “My Lord” which once more features some pretty great keyboard playing by Trudie, and well hey, this is actually a pretty good song!
The B-Side opens with another one of my Gospel favorites, “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and I’m not gonna go into detail of who I think does it better, because I’m sure by now if you’re a regular around these parts you’ll know. If not, oh well. Trudie does sing the song well, but it’s nothing too special. Once more though, we’re greeted with some fantastic vocal overdubbing. After that we go onto the track “Somebody Bigger Than You and I” and hey, once more we’re not in an all bad type of music spot, the songs are good, a bit slow, but with a great vocalist and musicians. After that we go into a song that requires a bit more speed, “Put Your Hand in the Hand” follows next and oh boy, Trudie delivers it perfectly! Not many artists can deliver this song on quite the right level, but Trudie seems to be able to do so. We then go back to the usual speed with the song “I Believe in a Hill Called Mt. Calvary” and it’s not a bad track, I’m actually enjoying this track, and her vocals are pretty great. The album ends with the track “Jesus Loves You My Friend” and we’re once more ending on a slow note, but not a bad note, the song is a good one with great musicianship and Trudie has proven she is vocally capable! The album all in all wasn’t all that bad.
Interesting Facts:
The previous owner opened the record along the top seam instead of the actual opening along the right side of the sleeve. (As partially seen in above photos).

My mother is Trudie Cowan, thank you very much for your kind words, this was wonderful to stumble upon.
She is still singing and going strong in 2015.
Wow….that is my mom and where did u find her album?
Well your mother is a very talented woman! I acquired her album through a local Value Village.
Was this your mothers only album? Does she still sing?
Your mother is a very talented woman!
Thank you yes this was my Mom’s only album but she continues to sing, she doesnt perform on stages anymore, she retired in the early 2000’s from performing in venues due to health conditions but she would still perform for special requests and for Church services. She continues her musicality daily with our Dad on guitar. They really are amazing! We loved teaching them new songs as teenagers 🙂 The Album release date was 1978.
Thank you for your kind words on our Mom’s dream to have an album 🙂 we come from a very musical family! I am glad you enjoyed it!
